Your Guide To A Clean Garage | Flemington, NJ
Spring is here and in fact, it’s almost gone. That means summer is quickly approaching and if you’ve been putting off your spring cleaning, we’re here to tell you to knock that off and get to it. One of those to-dos that we want to focus on this week is cleaning out your garage and how to keep it that way. So, sit back, relax, and let us tell you all about cleaning out your garage and how to keep it that way!
First things first, we need to clean out your garage. Seriously, everything that has made your garage its home, remove it. This is a time to get rid of things you’ve been holding onto for years or find items a new home if you plan on keeping them. A golden rule is to make three designated piles for your items. One is a keep. A second is a toss. And lastly, your third pile is for items you plan to recycle. If you’re debating on tossing an item, think to yourself, have I used this item in the last six months? If not, toss.
Now that everything is finally removed from your garage – it’s time to get down and dirty into the cleaning portion of this blog. Spend some time cleaning the floor, the shelves, under any benches, the ceiling, gosh if you can clean it – just do it! I get that this might be a long, annoying process but you’ll thank us in the end. Bonus! Having a clean garage will make the things you own look much better and newer. And let’s be honest, who wants their BMW sitting is a dusty garage? No one.
Moving onto the organization. This is a vital part of keeping your garage looking like a well-kept, put together garage that you won’t be ashamed of. There are many options for your organizational issues. Choose how you want to organize your items and stick to the plan you set. Storage shelving, workbench, cabinets, wall or ceiling racks – choose what’s best for you and install. Personally, we like racks because you can get your items stored out of the way yet still able to see where they are.
So, are you ready to get to it? Once you’ve upgraded your garage, stop in to see us to upgrade your vehicle!
May is the perfect month to pack the family in the BMW and hit the road. And whether that destination is near or far – we want to help pass the time. This week, we have listed out our favorite road trip car games to help get all of your passengers involved. Take a look and when you’re ready to upgrade your ride, stop in to see our team right here at Flemington BMW and let’s get you behind the wheel of a new BMW that you truly deserve. Check out these games, take a mental note so you don’t forget during your next trip and stop in to see us for a test drive! We’re ready to hit the road – are you? We hope to see you soon!
The Alphabet Race:
- One passenger picks a letter from A-Z and whoever spots that letter out the window first (buildings, houses, dog, grass, cars, for example) gets to go next! This game is endless and can help pass the time, especially with small children who are learning new items!
License Plate Map:
- Grab a clipboard, a color-less printed out copy of the U.S. map, and some crayons! When you see a license plate from a certain state, color it in! This will keep kids occupied for hours as they race to be the first one to get all 50 states!
I Spy:
- Everyone should know this one! Start with saying “I spy with my little eye….” and give a clue as to what you are looking at. Everyone takes a turn guessing at what you could be seeing, the person who guesses correctly gets to start the next round.
20 Questions:
- Another popular and easy game! Someone in the car thinks of a specific object and other passengers take turns guessing what the person, place or thing could be and can be answered with a simple yes or no. After every answer, the questioner gets one guess at what is being thought of. Person to guess correctly wins and gets to start the next round.
Spot The Car:
- This is a great game for older children who can differentiate the difference between vehicle models or brands, however, you choose to play. Instead of looking for different states like we did in the Licensee Plate Map game, you’re looking for different models/ brands. You can make a printable scavenger hunt list to check off when that model is found. The first one to check off their list wins!

Your Guide To Keeping Your Tank Full And Why!
You’re probably gearing up for one of your planned spring road trips. And while this is an exciting time for you and your family, I want to remind you that keeping your fuel tank full is a great option. Not only will it keep you from breaking down but it will also keep your vehicle in great shape. How? I know, you’re probably wondering how keeping a full tank of fuel will benefit your vehicle. And this week’s blog is dedicated to just that. So, buckle up and let’s get started on why running low on fuel is causing more damage to your vehicle than you thought.
Sediment Implications Are Brutal:
When you fill up the tank, sediments in the gasoline tend to settle toward the bottom of the tank. If you let your fuel levels run low, dirt and other sediments get stirred up from the bottom of the tank. Then, as your fuel pump is trying to pump gas into your engine, it’s sucking up the dirtiest gasoline in the tank filled with all those sediments. This mixture of dirty gasoline can end up in the engine or fuel line and will be a costly repair. If you engine clogs, your entire fuel line system will have to be flushed which again can be very costly.
You’re Wearing Out The Pump:
The gas you pump into your vehicle acts as a coolant for the electric fuel-pump motor and when you run low on fuel, this allows your fuel-pump to suck in air. What’s that mean? That means your fuel pump is running hot and can cause your fuel pump to wear out prematurely or eventually fail. This problem will happen over time but can be costly to repair or replace.
Fuel Gauges Aren’t Always Accurate:
Just because your fuel gauge says you have 30 miles to empty, don’t take the chance. Fuel gauges are known to not be 100% accurate and the precision of your gauge relies on various factors including your vehicle’s fuel economy and your driving style. Consider this as an estimate and not an exact mileage to empty. In short, running on empty puts you at risk of getting stranded or being in an accident when your vehicle suddenly stops in the roadway. So, just fill up. Ok?

March is almost over and April is making its way in! While we’re excited for the spring months to finally be here, allergy season is also right around the corner. If you’re anything like me, allergies are a crippling thing to have especially in the springtime when you’re ready to get out and explore after being stuck inside all winter. This week we want to talk about allergy-proofing your vehicle. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
Clean It
The first and best way to start allergy-proofing your vehicle (and even your home) is to start with a clean slate. Yes, I know. More spring cleaning? Yup! You know just how dirty your vehicle can get, now think about how all that dirt, dust, and grime is only adding to your allergies. Gross! We recommend wiping down your dashboard, seating, and vents as often as possible using a damp microfiber cloth and a solution with little to no irritants. Vacuum your carpeting and be sure to clean and let your floor mats dry completely. Also, don’t be afraid to frequently stop by the car wash to rid your vehicle of any allergens on the exterior of your vehicle.
Contain It
Often times your clothing and shoes are the way allergens make their way into your vehicle, it’s a smart idea to remove the articles of clothing that have come in contact with those allergens if possible. We recommend storing them in a separate area and keep them confined. Also, keep your windows closed to keep allergens out. Go the extra mile to ensure that your weather stripping in intact and every window/ door shuts properly so allergens can’t creep in.
Replace It
If it’s been a while since you last replaced your air filters, it’s time to change them out now. Also, we recommend checking them once more after pollen season to ensure they are still in proper condition. Invest in all-weather floor mats to cut back on the number of allergens that make your carpeting their home. Don’t use air fresheners or cleaners that have harsh chemicals or any that could cause nasal irritation.
