Happy December! Can you believe we are already in month 12 of 2020?! We can hardly believe it! But as temperatures are dropping, it’s important to ensure that you and your vehicle are properly equipped to handle the winter weather conditions. This week, we have put together a list of tips that will help you conquer the winter weather. We encourage you to check out those details below and if your vehicle is in need of service, hurry on in this holiday season and let our team treat your vehicle to a little TLC service. Or if you’re ready to drive off into winter weather in a brand new BMW, we encourage you to hurry in to see our team this December and let us help you upgrade your vehicle!

Winter Tips For Your BMW:

  • Swap out regular tires for winter tires. Snow or not, when temperatures fall below 45 degrees, winter tires are recommended. They’re made to give you better traction while turning or stopping on cold pavement.
  • Check your tire pressure weekly. Driving on underinflated tires can cause them to wear down prematurely and lose traction on icy or slippery surfaces. Your tires lose a pound of pressure with every 10-degree drop in temperature.
  • Always keep your fuel tank half full. During winter weather, it’s important to keep at least half a tank of fuel in the vehicle in the event of an emergency or if you get stuck in the snow and wait for assistance.
  • Pack an emergency to-go kit. We encourage you to keep an extra coat, blanket, boots, gloves, and a hat inside your vehicle when the temperatures drop. We also recommend keeping a flashlight, first aid kit, and emergency contact information or AAA handy.
  • Protect your windshield wipers. If you park outdoors, leave the wipers in the raised position to prevent them from freezing to the windshield. Never use your wiper blades to remove ice, snow, or frost from the windshield; use an ice scraper instead.

Hey BMW Fam! Can you believe we’re gearing up to celebrate the start of the holiday season? We sure can’t but this year has been full of plenty of surprises. This week, we want to prepare you and your family with some tips to ensure that everyone stays safe and healthy while enjoying the start of the holiday season. Check out our tips below and be sure to have a conversation with the family so everyone is on the same page this holiday season! Let’s get started!
Wear a mask
  • Wear a mask with two or more layers to help protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
  • Always wear the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin.
  • Your mask should fit snugly against the sides of your face.
Stay at least 6 feet away
  • Remember that people without symptoms may be able to spread COVID-19 or flu.
  • Staying 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from others, who don’t reside with you, is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
Wash your hands
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Keep hand sanitizer with you and use it when you are unable to wash your hands. Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol for extra caution.
Consider other Thanksgiving Activities
  • While you might not be able to gather, consider hosting a virtual Thanksgiving dinner or activity to interact with those who are unable to gather.
  • Try sharing recipes that are new to the table or share old memories with one another.
  • Consider playing a game together or watch sporting events together.
  •  Shopping sales online & with family can remind you of the days spent together flipping through ads and catalogs together.

We know the age-old car-buying myths that everyone’s heard of, passed on to their friends and family, and even some that have kept people from upgrading into a brand new vehicle. This week we have five of those most common myths that people believe and why they’re only myths when you shop with the team right here at Flemington BMW! We encourage you to take some time going over those details below, schedule an appointment, and browse our online inventory. The holiday season is just around the corner and there’s no better time to slip behind the wheel of a brand new BMW than right here, right now at Flemington BMW!

The internet is the best place for a great deal

  • Buying a new vehicle online isn’t always your best option. The lease or finance rate, trade-in price, and other factors play into getting the best deal on a new vehicle. We encourage you to stop in and visit with our finance team for the best possible deal on a brand new vehicle!

Paying with cash will get you the best price

  • Paying for a new vehicle in cash isn’t always the best option. Choosing the right finance option for you is important and something our finance team can assist you with.

Your own financing is better

  • Most customers think that bringing their own financing is best but when you choose to finance through the dealership, you’ll have access to various discounts whether it’s on the vehicle of your choosing or your interest rates.

Waiting until the end of the month will get you a better deal

  • When you shop at our dealership, you’ll have access to great offers and incentives all month long. And on a variety of models, too. So there’s no reason to wait until the very end of the month to grab a great deal. Shop all month long and get a great price no matter what!

Wait to mention your trade-in

  • Absolutely not! We recommend bringing up your trade up front and be honest about what you’re looking to achieve when you trade in your vehicle with us. Being upfront with our team can save you time and money. So mention it upfront and let’s get you behind the wheel sooner rather than later!

Goblins, ghouls, and witches, can you believe that this weekend is Halloween weekend? We sure can’t! Time is flying by and before you know it, winter will be here and snow will be on the ground. But first things first, it’s time to talk about how to stay safe this weekend when you’re out and about. Or perhaps you’re staying in this Halloween weekend. Either way, whatever your plans are, we have ways for you to stay festive, stay busy, and stay safe! And as always, if you’re ready to upgrade your vehicle this spooky season, we encourage you to stop in to see our team at Flemington BMW, and let’s get you behind the wheel! We look forward to assisting you in your vehicle search – see you soon!

Virtual Costume Parties –

  • Today’s age offers plenty of technology to a wide variety of audiences which means you can use them to your advantage this Halloween weekend! We recommend setting a time with friends and family that you all can join and enjoy the time together! And don’t forget to pass out the virtual candy!

Make Masks A Costume Prop –

  • We know that it might be difficult to get your kiddos to wear those masks but if you make it part of their costume, you might have a winning way to stay safe this weekend. Some great options are surgeons, superheroes, or even evil characters! Be sure to double line with an approved mask!

Spooky Movie Night

  • Things definitely look a lot different this year so maybe it’s time to switch up those traditions! Like having a spooky movie night instead of heading out to trick or treat! Of course, we recommend some fan-favorite age-appropriate movies like Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, or Hocus Pocus! Did we say that one twice?!

Outdoor Community Events –

  • If your community is having a few outdoor events, we encourage you to attend but be safe and mindful of you and your family while in attendance. Be sure to pack your masks and extras in case. Hand sanitizer is also a must-have these days. Always choose events where physical distancing and one-way walkthroughs are enforced. As always, remind your children of potential dangers when out and about and to always be on alert.

Picking up poor driving habits is normal and easy. But breaking free of those bad habits can be tough. Especially if you’re not even aware of those habits. This week, we have your list of eight driving habits that need to be broken free and left in the dust. Spend some time checking out those details below and when you’re ready to upgrade into a brand new BMW, come see the team right here at Flemington BMW this October! We have a lot of great incentives and offers waiting for you!

Failing to signal.

  • It’s important to let other drivers and pedestrians know your next move so they can slow down and accommodate. We recommend signaling at least 100 feet in advance.

Riding the brakes.

  • Riding your brakes can cause excess strain on your brakes. Keep your foot off the brake and only use when/ if necessary.

Rolling through stop signs.

  • We know this is a habit many struggle with but to ensure everyone’s safety, it’s important to come to a complete stop at any and every intersection you approach.

Slowing down to look at crashes or construction.

  • Rubbernecking is not only dangerous, but can contribute to a chain reaction of slowed traffic and potential crashes. Keep your eyes on the road ahead of you to ensure you’re following road rules or police directions.

Sudden stops.

  • Always be on alert and anticipate when you might need to stop. Sudden stops will create excess wear on brake pads.

Fast starts.

  • Accelerate at a slow smooth rate, peeling away uses excess gas, and may be putting a strain on the key components of your engine.

Running yellow or red lights.

  • Doing so can increase your chance of a car crash. If the light turns yellow before you reach the intersection, it’s best not to risk it and wait for the next green light.

Disregarding the speed limit.

  • While speed limits vary by state, and are typically posted, we recommend using the following ranges as a general guide if you don’t see a posted speed limit:
    • Residential area: 15-30 mph
    • Undivided road (rural): 40-55 mph
    • Divided road (rural): 55-70 mph
    • Freeway: 55-65 mph
