Sales For May Released By BMW
When the BMW brand wrapped up their total sales results at the end of May, their overall sales for the month came to 29,017 units. The best sales performance for the month was seen by the BMW 3 Series which ended May with a total of 7,376 units sold. This impressive total is more than double the results for the second-best selling model of the month, the 4 Series. This vehicle ended May with total sales of 3,264 units.
“The shorter number of selling days in May no doubt affected the month totals but the ongoing transition to X models remains clear,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The BMW X1 grows more popular each month with its siblings X3 and X6 giving it strong support. The X5 was limited only by availability but that will continue improving in the months ahead.”

- Sales of the 2 Series increased 18 percent to reach 1,322 units
- Sales of the 5 Series came to 3,264 units
- Sales of the 6 Series increased 35 percent to reach 474 units
- Sales of the 7 Series increased 7.3 percent to reach 1,012 units
- Sales of the X1 increased 93.3 percent to reach 2,210 units
- Sales of the X3 increased 28 percent to reach 3,295 units
- Sales of the X4 came to 371 units
- Sales of the X5 came to 4,372 units
- Sales of the X6 increased 26 percent to reach 712 units
- Sales of the i3 came to 696 units
- Sales of the i8 increased 25 percent to reach 146 units
- Sales of the Z4 increased 61.5 percent to reach 126 units

The highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is Top Safety Pick + and this rating was just presented to the 2016 BMW X1. The BMW brand has long been dedicated to providing class-leading safety in their vehicles and the all-new X1 is certainly no exception. To earn this impressive safety distinction, the vehicle received a score of “good” in each of the five crashworthiness tests from IIHS. These tests include the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, head restraint, and small overlap front crash tests. To clinch the “Plus” rating the model’s available front crash prevention system received an “advanced” rating.
Along with the available front crash prevention system the 2016 BMW X1 also offers optional safety features such as Frontal Collision Warning including Pedestrian Warning, City Collision Mitigation, and Lane Departure Warning. Standard safety features include Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Dry Assist, BMW Assist eCall, BMW TeleService, and Dynamic Traction Control.

The highest-possible safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a Five-Star overall safety rating, has been presented to the 2016 BMW X5. This model achieved this note worthy rating by earning four stars in the rollover crash test and five stars in the front and side crash tests.
The 2016 BMW X5 comes equipped with standard safety features such as full-length side curtain airbags, front side airbags, stability and traction control, high-performance antilock brakes with automatic drying, active front head restraints, and hill-descent control.
Additionally, this model offers several available safety features such as the Driver Assistance Package that includes active blind-spot monitoring, a side- and top-view camera system, and lane-departure warning.
