2017 BMW 5 Series Arrives At Flemington BMW!

Wards recently presented their 10 Best Engines awards and BMW was among the list of this year’s recipients. The brand was awarded for the 3.0-Liter Inline Six-Cylinder Engine that provides power to the BMW M240i using the M Performance TwinPower Technology. The award-winning engine generates 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque and can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The award was accepted by Vice President of Engineering, BMW of North America Roberto Rossetti who made a speech regarding the many BMW accomplishments of that year.
“Last year BMW turned 100 years and during that time our company has become famous for its iconic 6-cylinder inline engines. Today BMW continues to receive accolades in front of the most respected engineers in powertrain and technology in the industry. The inline-6 will continue to be part of BMW legacy,” said Roberto Rossetti in his speech. “Our latest addition to this family is the B58 featuring BMW M Performance TwinPower Turbo Technology, Valvetronic, Double VANOS and Direct Injection and BMW is making history once again here at Wards 10 Best Engine celebration,” added Rossetti. “It was an incredible feat for the development team on this new set of modular engines to have up to 30-40 percent of its components shared with the 6-cylinder diesel engine and up to 60% with the 3- and 4-cylinder gasoline modular engines. One of the goals was to increase horsepower and torque while at the same time increase the efficiency on all variants. All in all, the B58 is a smoother, higher performing more efficient engine that ensures BMW delivers the true and typical driving dynamics to our customers of the Ultimate Driving Machine” concluded Rossetti.

2008 BMW V8 1M Clone Featured On Jay Leno’s Garage
Jay Leno is back again with another new episode of his popular Jay Leno’s Garage web series. Jay has featured a number of BMW motorcycles on his show, but for the first time in awhile, he featured a BMW vehicles, more specifically, the 2008 BMW V8 1M Clone. This model belongs to Marco Svizzero who purchased it used as a 2008 BMW 135i and then modified it for street racing and track racing with a variety of performance and design upgrades. You can hear all about these impressive upgrades in the full episode below as he shares his restoration and renovation journey with Jay. Marco takes him through the details of all of the impressive work that he has done on this vehicle in order to make it exactly what he envisioned. After, the two take this model out for a test drive, giving Jay the chance to get behind the wheel and really see what this vehicle is made of.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just presented two more TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, this time going to two members of the BMW lineup, the 2017 BMW 2 Series and 2017 BMW 3 Series. Both vehicles made changes to their headlights in order to meet the stricter guidelines set by the IIHS for their TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings.
For a vehicle to qualify for the TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, it has to earn a “good” rating in each of the IIHS crashworthiness tests including the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints tests. It also must earn an “advanced” or “superior” rating for its front crash prevention system and an “acceptable” or “good” rating for its headlights.
The improved headlight features on these two models include the curve-adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assist which are available on the 3 Series as part of the optional lighting package, and curve-adaptive high-intensity discharge lights which are available on the 2 Series as part of a lighting package.

December Sales Results Announced By BMW
Total 2016 sales for the BMW brand amounted to 313,177 units in 2016 and December sales alone reached an overall total of 32,835 units. The two best sellers for December were the X1 and the 3 Series. Sales of the X1 skyrocketed up 136.6 percent to reach 4,185 units while sales of the 3 Series also rose by 28.1 percent to reach 6,740 units.
“December set a new record for our Sports Activity Vehicle sales in the U.S., exceeding 50 percent for the first time ever and firmly anchoring 2016 as the growth year for SAV’s in the Premium Segment,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The New Year brings optimism for the year ahead and now we’re looking forward to the Detroit Auto Show next week and the launch of our brilliant, all-new 5 Series.”

- 7 Series sales were up 3.7 percent to reach 1,313 units

Auto Trader has announced its customer search results for 2016 and the BMW 3 Series has once again claimed the top spot as the most searched vehicle on their site. This is now the sixth year in a row that the 3 Series has earned this title proving that it continues to be one of the most popular models in the American market. In fact, this model even beat out some new competition such as the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class to maintain its spot at the top of the search list.
In addition to the 3 Series claiming the top spot, the BMW brand also had two other popular models make the top ten with the 5 Series claiming the fifth spot followed directly by the 1 Series in the sixth spot.
