A few things to ask:

• Can I transfer the lease later?
• What will the total cost be? Any fees? If so, what are they?
• What is the warranty and what does it cover?
• Do you offer GAP insurance? Is it included?

Nothing is more frightening than driving down the road and thinking about a potentially dangerous tire blowout happening. This is increasingly frightening if you are unsure of how to react in a situation like this but we don’t want you to worry. This week we have your guide on everything you need to know when/ if a tire blowout happens to you, check it out below!

What will it sound like?

Expect to hear three distinct sounds that will help you determine that what you’re hearing is indeed a tire blowout. First, you may hear a loud boom or bang, this is the tire popping and reverberating throughout your vehicle. Next, a whooshing sound is the sound of air escaping your tire and lastly, a flapping or flopping sound is of the deflated tire continuously hitting the road.

What will it feel like?

At a fast speed, a tire blowout will first make your vehicle slow down and then it will pull strongly to the left or right depending on which side the tire had burst. If a tire in the front burst, you will feel the force mostly within the steering of your vehicle, if the burst happened in the back you will feel the force in the seat or body of your vehicle.

How to drive through the blowout:

• Don’t panic, stay calm

• Keep a firm grip on the steering wheel
• Let your vehicle slow down gradually
• Pull to the side of the road once you’ve slowed down to a safe speed
• Turn on your emergency flashers

How to prevent a tire blowout:

Tire blowouts are preventable with proper care and attention and are most frequent in the summer months when roadways are hot. A simple, routine inspection of your vehicle’s tires each time you fill up for gas or leave in the morning can help prevent blowouts. Look for leaks, cracks, excess wear or tear, and ensure your tires are filled to the proper PSI. Keeping your load light can also prevent a tire blowout!

It may be time for you to renew your driver’s license. Whether it has completely expired or you’re being proactive, this week’s blog will guide you through that renewal process to make your life a little easier. Check it out below and head to the DMV to renew before it may be too late!

When to renew:

A New Jersey driver’s license is valid for 4 years and can be renewed in person or by mail (when eligible). Requirements for renewal are different based on whether your license was: lost, stolen, damaged, suspended or still valid. You can find more information on the DMV website.

In-person renewal:

• 1 primary document providing your identity (these are a birth certificate, U.S. passport, or current N.J. license.)
• 1 secondary document providing your identity (these are a military I.D., marriage certificate, college I.D. or transcript.)

• Your Social Security Number (SSN).

• Proof of address (these can be a utility bill, issued in the last 90 days, bank statements, issued in the last 60 days or school transcripts, issued in the last 2 years.)

• A form of payment.

By mail renewal:

• Complete “Skip the Trip” renewal package application.

• Include a check or money order for the renewal fee.

Military driver license renewal:

• If you or someone you know is currently stationed overseas, you will automatically receive an extension on your N.J. driver’s license renewal if you are an active-duty military member or a N.J. National Guard/ Reserve member.

• Your N.J. license will not expire until you are discharged.

• Always carry your extension letter and your active-duty military papers with you when you drive.

Fall is upon us, I can see it there in the distance. Slowly creeping up on us and that means August is a great time to get your BMW in for some maintenance and get ready for those bone-chilling months that are quickly approaching. This week, we have compiled a list of our top five car care tips that you’ll want to prep with to not only set your BMW up for success this fall but to start showing your BMW more love in terms of service!

Get your battery checked:

Extreme temperatures can put a lot of strain on your battery. A fully charged battery is a necessary item when we are headed towards colder weather. Stop in or schedule an appointment to have on of our trained technicians to test your battery and look for any signs of corrosion on your battery terminals/ or cable ends.

Check all fluid levels:

Fluid levels are always important but when you’re headed into colder months, you’ll want to have your fluids at all the correct levels. This includes fluids such as windshield washer fluid, engine oil, coolant, brake and power steering fluids, and all the others in between.

Replace wiper blades:

The main purpose of your wiper blades is to clear the windshield without problems. If your wiper blades are cracked, broken, or just worn out – they will not be able to properly do their job. Summer temperatures and UV rays put your wiper blades through the ringer which can lead to issues in the winter months or fall rain. Give them a once over and replace if need be.

Check the brakes and tires:

Bad weather conditions, poor brakes/ tires, and inclement road conditions can create potential hazards, this means you need to be equipped with good brakes and tires. If your tires have wear bars showing, replace the tires. Don’t forget to check your tire’s pressure, as well. As temperatures drop, tire pressure drops and can leave you in dangerous situations.

Check heater and defroster:

An improperly working heater isn’t fun or safe to drive around with. Driving with a fogged-up windshield can put you, your passengers, and other drivers in harm’s way. Take the time to make sure that your front and rear window defrosters are properly working. If they are not, seek assistance from our trained technicians.
