October 2014 Sales Results Announced By BMW
October 2014 showed an 11% increase over October 2013 in sales for the BMW brand with a total of 30,602 units sold for the month. This is an increase of more than 3,000 units over the 27,574 that sold last October. Additionally, year-to-date sales of the BMW brand have reached 267,193 units, which is a 12% increase over the 238,469 units that sold during this same period in 2013. Overall, sales of BMW passenger cars reached 25,261 which is an increase of 14.3%.
“The momentum is still with us as shown by back-to-back monthly records for BMW in October and September,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “Our new models, especially the 2 and 4 Series, are giving BMW a great boost as we head into the final two months of the year but I am also very pleased to see our born-electric BMW i3 doing so well, averaging a thousand per month in sales after only four months on the market.”
BMW of North America recently opened a new BMW Performance Center in Southern California. Through a partnership with The Thermal Club, BMW has created a this new training course that is located near La Quinta, CA. This new facility will offer the same level of in-depth driver training and performance driving courses that are currently available at the Spartanburg, CA BMW Performance Center, which has been open since 1999. The first BMW Performance Center opened back in 1977 in Germany so this new location will be the second in the U.S. These incredibly popular performance centers receive nearly 1,000-1,500 visitors per week. Additionally, close to 130,000 students have graduated from the driving courses, with around 5,000 of those graduates coming from the Teen Driving Schools.
The new training course has been designed on 32 acres of the Thermal Club’s ground and includes 6.2 acres of paddock, an 8,500 square foot Performance Facility, a 1.4 mile road course, and a skid pad. Additionally, the Thermal Club will be providing a variety of benefits including a Motorsports Village that provides the Trackside Garage, Tuning Shop, 5.5 miles of racing circuits and other luxuries such as first-class culinary, concierge services tennis courts, a pool and a kids club.

The BMW plant in Leipzig recently celebrated a production milestone with its 1.5-millionth vehicle produced. The landmark vehicle was an Alpine White BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. On average, the plant generally produces about 750 vehicle a day. Additional models produced there include the BMW X1, BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 13 electric vehicle, BMW 1 Series and BMW 18 electric vehicle.
This plant currently employees more than 4,000 workers and is one of the most modernly-equipped facilities in the world.

Almost ten years after the plant opened, we can already celebrate the production of the 1.5-millionth vehicle today,” says Dr. Milan Nedeljkovic, head of the BMW plant in Leipzig. “For the future, we are well positioned to continue the success story of the Leipzig plant together with our employees.”

BMW Group recently presented US Accident Research Professor Kenny Diggs with the BMW Vehicle Safety Lifetime Achievement Award. The award presentation took place during the annual Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine conference at BMW Welt in Munich. Professor Diggs received this honor due to his ongoing dedication into researching ways to improve overall vehicle occupant safety. In fact, Professor Diggs is one of the world’s leading experts in the vehicle safety field.
His research is primarily conducted out of George Washington University and over the years his research has led to vehicle safety advancements such as, the development of all-new safety systems and the newest crash test process. Additionally, Professor Diggs’ research was critical in the development of the Intelligent Emergency Call system.
BMW i Partners Up with Soho House Group
BMW i has partnered up with Soho House Group (SHG) becoming the SHG’s official global automotive partner for a new promotion that will be presented through all 12 of SHG’s sites throughout North America and Europe.
Through this partnership, the two companies will work together to create an international arts program that will be promoted through all of SHG’s locations. This program will offer specialized experiences and events that will be focused primarily on design, contemporary art and innovation. Additionally, BMW i will also provide a BMW i3 at many of these events to offer an exclusive is driving experience for guests.

BMW GINA Concept
In the years since the beginning of the BMW brand there have been a wide variety of vehicles that have been produced by this legendary auto company. Along with the many production models developed there have also been many concept vehicles developed as well. Some of the concepts did eventually make it into mainstream production, others however never made it out of the innovative concept stage. In continuing on with our look through the many unique concepts that were never produced we now take a look at the GINA.
The GINA was designed back in 2009 to be a vehicle that would stand out and inspire BMW drivers in the creation and development of future model. The uniquely futuristic design of this concept was created by Chris Bangle Chief of Design.What makes this model truly unique is that is its outer shell was made entirely out of fabric giving the exterior a while different type of look. While the GINA was never driven into production, BMW did state that within the next decade the fabric exterior could be seen on future production models.
BMW Releases Video Tribute to 3 Series
A new video paying homage to the infamous BMW 3 Series, or E30 as it is sometimes known as, was recently released. The video was put together by BMW enthusiast and cinematographer Max Daines and features two different 3 Series models. The 3 series line has been one of BMW’s most respected lines for more than 30 years with the second generation edition being released back in 1982.
The second generation 3 series was considered ahead of its time with advanced features such as service warning lights, an electronic monitoring system and a sleeker, more modern design scheme. Check out the above video to see this classy tribute to this outstanding model.

BMW Releases September 2014 Sales Results
September 2014 Sales results are in for the BMW brand, and the results show that sales have increased by 8.6% over September 2013 with a total of 25,586 units sold. In terms of year-to-date sales numbers, the BMW brand has increased by 11.3% with 236,591 units sold so far this year.
“After such a strong August, to set a new September sales record for BMW is a great accomplishment and emphasizes the importance of our new models to the company’s sales success,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “I am especially pleased to see dealer deliveries of the spectacular i8 hybrid now underway as we enter the very important fourth quarter of the year.””
