New Open-Top BMW i8 Concept Revealed
BMW has released images of their latest concept car design, the Open-Top BMW i8 Concept! This new model is a convertible, designed as a sexy two seater with a retractable top that allows you to head down the road in style while enjoying the open wind in your hair.
Additional new design features included on this stylish model include its dynamic silhouette, designed to give the model a more aerodynamic look and feel for ultimate driving convenience with the most minimal resistance. This model was also developed using raw materials to make this concept more sustainable Overall.
The Open-Top BMW i8 Concept also has the ability to generate an impressive 400 hp from its 3-Cylinder Engine and Lithium-ion Electric Motor.
WardsAuto 10 Best List Includes Two BMW Engines
The 1.5L Turbocharged DOHC 3-cylinder that powers the BMW 2 Series Turbo and the 127-kW Electric Motor that powers the BMW i3 were both recently named to the 10 Best Engines of 2015 list put out by WardsAuto. This officially makes BMW the only automaker to have two engines included on this year’s list.
Editors from WardsAuto evaluated 37 different nominees in order to put the list together. In order to do so, eight editors drive the different models around on their daily commutes evaluating characteristics such as power, vibration, relative competitiveness, observed fuel economy, technology, torque, harshness and noise.
At the North American International Auto Show, a ceremony will be held in January 14, 2015 during which the awards will be officially presented.
Flexible Mobility Program Launched By BMW
BMW has officially launched the Flexible Mobility program, which allows BMW i3 owners to borrow a different vehicle for long-distance drives. This new loaner car program has been launched by several brands that carry all-electric models, with BMW being one of the newest manufactures become involved.
Through this program BMW i3 owners who are planning to embark on a long distance journey to and through area where charging stations may not be readily available can rent a loaner non-electric vehicle directly from participating BMW dealers. BMW will even provide credits at car rental agencies in areas where there are no participating BMW dealers.

BMW i8 is Top Gear Car of the Year
Top Gear Magazine has named the BMW i8 as its 2014 Car of the Year. TG editors stated that this model was chosen for its impressive combination of style and performance. The BMW i8 was up against some stiff competition but ended up pulling out the win with a unanimous vote.
“It is a milestone in the annals of automotive history and a glorious statement for an exciting and positive future”, said the British publication’s Editor in Chief Charlie Turner. “The i8 delivers – and then some”. “It’s the kind of car we should celebrate, a beautiful vision of the feature, delivered now. It is a resounding success and the whole team was unanimous in naming the BMW i8 as Top Gear magazine’s Car of the Year.”

BMW has paired with Art Basel to help support up and coming artists with a new program called the BMW Art Journey. This journey will enable young emerging artists to on their own journey of creative discovery in a mobile studio.
The concept it quite simple; The artist proposes the journey. The artists sets off on the journey. The artist reflects on the journey. The BMW Art Journey will be awarded twice a year to one artist among those who exhibit at Art Basel’s Miami Beach and Hong Kong locations. Two international, expert juries will each create a short list of artists to be considered, and then one artist from each shortlist will be selected for a second round of judging, where one will receive the journey.
“For over forty years now, BMW has been involved in the arts with hundreds of long-term initiatives worldwide,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW of North America. “Now we are extending these efforts to contribute more directly to contemporary art practice. The BMW Art Journey is a great example of how we can do something meaningful for the benefit of today’s artists. We are confident that this initiative will allow the chosen artists to broaden their horizons and push their work into new creative territory. At the same time, we see this as another important step in our long-term partnership with Art Basel.”
BMW Releases November Sales
BMW recently reported November sales results, citing a total of 31,019 units sold for the month. Additionally, year-to-date sales for the BMW brand have increased by 9.7% over last year with a total of 298, 212 units sold.
“The traffic in our showrooms was very strong in November, especially over the Thanksgiving weekend, and I expect that momentum to continue in December and carry us to an all-time sales record at the end of 2014,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “On the BMW side, the new X6 joins the U.S. model lineup this month adding even more breadth to what I regard as the best BMW model range ever.”
BMW November Highlights:
- Sales of BMW Passenger Cars increased by 2.4% with 23,331 units
- Sales of BMW Light Trucks reached 7,688 units
2015 BMW X5 Page Released

BMW M2 Rumored To Be Unveiled Late 2015
The BMW M2 is set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. It is scheduled to go on sale in early 2016 and will replace the BMW 1M Coupe. The M2 will be powered by an updated N55 TwinPower 3.0L Engine which can generate up to 370 horsepower. It is expected to have the option of a manual or automatic transmission and is projected to go from 0 to 62 mph in under 5 seconds. As for the look and style of the car will be styled in a unique way. The front and rear bumpers have a unique look and will sit atop 19” M-styled wheels.
