BMW Releases Sales Results for July
The total number of units that were sold by the BMW brand throughout the month of July came to 25,777 units. The BMW 3 Series was the biggest seller for the brand reaching an overall total of 6,799 units for the month. Several other models saw a significant year-over-year increase including the X1, 2 Series, and 6 Series. These models saw a YOY increase of 79 percent, 66 percent, and 68 percent respectively.
“The volatility that has characterized the 2016 sales year was clearly evident in the beginning of the third quarter,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “As we have seen through the early months of the year, the 2 Series and X1 have acquired a strong following and the 7 Series continues gaining ground. At the same time, the global popularity of our X models continues to constrain our sales here in the U.S.”
July Highlights for BMW:
- Sales of the Z4 increased 5 percent to reach 124 units
- Sales of the 5 Series increased 51 percent to reach 3,303 units
- Sales of the 7 Series increased 31 percent to reach 1,203 units
- Sales of the i3 increased 58 percent to reach 1,479 units

The BMW brand may be in the process of creating an all-electric version of the 3 Series, according to rumors circulating that were recently reported by CleanTechnica. The publication has caught wind of a possible, all-electric design being worked on by BMW that is predicted to make its debut for the 2020 model year. While the information regarding this model is mostly speculation at the moment, CleanTechnica has reported that it can be expected that this vehicle will come equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack and have a fully charged driving range of around 300 miles.
There is still a bit of a wait before we will know for sure if this vehicle is to make its debut, in the meantime, we can anticipate a redesigned version of the BMW 3 Series to be released in 2018. This model will be equipped with a new chassis with CLAR technology. This technology will make it easier to include the electric drivetrain by lightening the vehicle by nearly 200 pounds.

Flemington, NJ….In conjunction with BMW of North America’s Drive for a Cause, Flemington BMW has raised $1000 on a local dealership level and donated that amount to the Flemington Area Food Pantry.
“I am always happy to give back to our local community,” said Steve Kalafer, Chairman of Flemington BMW and the Flemington Car & Truck Country Family of Brands. “BMW of North America challenged us to bring to light their BMW Drive for a Cause campaign and we delivered on that challenge in a big way. Our team at Flemington BMW has worked hard to raise money that would make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.”
From May through September 2016 BMW of North America has established a goal of raising a minimum of $1.5 million from all of its North American dealerships in order to support the US Olympic Team and local charities within communities across the United States. Local BMW dealers were urged to promote and schedule events in conjunction with this initiative and asked consumers to “Take a Test Drive and Make a Difference.”
“At Flemington BMW we’ve done exactly as asked by BMW of North America. We’ve invited our customers to lend a helping hand in supporting the Flemington Area Local Food Pantry,” said Byron Brisby Jr., General Manager at Flemington BMW. “With every test drive taken during our Special Summer event which was held at our dealership on Saturday, June 25th we were able to set aside these dollars and contribute to a cause near and dear to our heart. BMW Releases June Sales
The BMW X1, X3, 2 Series, and 7 Series displayed the most significant year-over-year growth for the BMW brand throughout the month of June. Overall these vehicles all experienced double or triple digit YOY sales increases including a 77.3 percent increase for the X1, a 69.5 percent increase for the X3, a 139.4 percent increase for the 2 Series, and a 69.2 percent increase for the 7 Series. Total June sales reported by the BMW brand were 28,855 units and their first-half sales reached 153,436 units.
“The mid-point to the year always brings some uncertainty about what may be ahead in the second half, so I’m very pleased to see several of our key models showing strong results in June,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The X1 and X3 are indicative of the still growing trend toward Sports Activity Vehicles, but the numbers also show that great cars like the BMW 7 Series and 2 Series have a strong appeal and following.”
June Sales Highlights:
- 6 Series sales increased 19.3 percent to reach 284 units
- X4 sales increased 4.4 percent to reach 407 units
- i3 sales increased 10.3 percent to reach 608 units
- i8 sales increased 23.4 percent to reach 169 units
- Z4 sales totaled 104 units
- 3 Series sales totaled 6,819 units
- 5 Series sales totaled 2,847 units

The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed took recently took place during the last weekend of June and BMW was there with a number of its impressive performance vehicles to take part in the festivities. Additionally, this was an extra special year for the brand since they were the Honored Marque for the Festival in honor of their 100th anniversary celebration.
BMW knows that not all of their biggest fans are able to attend this exciting festival, but they still wanted them to be able to experience of of the action in as close to first-hand as possible. To do so, they have released a new 360 degree video that offers viewers the perspective of being inside the BMW M4 GTS as it is driven up the legendary Goodwood Hillclimb.
