A Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has been presented to both the 2017 BMW X1 and the 2017 BMW 2 Series. In order to earn this top rating, both vehicles had to achieve at least a “good” rating in each of the five IIHS crash tests including small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. They also both had to offer an available front crash prevention system that earned a score of “advanced” or better.
This is now the the second consecutive year that the X1 has earned recognition from the IIHS and the fourth consecutive year for the 2 Series. Both models come equipped with standard safety features like Brake Dry Assist, Dynamic Traction Control, BMW Assist eCall, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Stability Control, and BMW TeleService. The also both offer available features like Lane Departure Warning and Frontal Collision Warning including Pedestrian Warning and City Collision Mitigation.

BMW Announced Sales for November
Sales for the BMW brand throughout November reached 26,189 total vehicles sold. As we head towards the end of the year total BMW sales for 2016 currently stand at 188,812 units. The 3 Series led sales for last month reaching a total of 5,411 units. This was followed by the X5 which not only sold 4.693 units in November but also increased sales over the previous year by 18.4 percent.
“Only a month remains in this year and we are beginning to bid farewell to the current generation 5 Series and getting ready to welcome the all-new BMW 5 Series which will make its world debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The dynamic driving character of the new 5 Series will be a complement to our 7 Series and make for a stronger model lineup heading into 2017.”
November Results:
- i3 sales reached 629 units
- i8 sales were up 46.6 percent to reach 173 units
- 2 Series sales came to 955 units
- 4 Series sales came to 3,240 units
- 6 Series sales came to 276 units
- 7 Series sales were up 18 percent to reach 1,233 units
- Z4 sales were up 96.3 percent to reach 159 units
- X1 sales were up 53.2 percent to reach 2,745 units
- X3 sales came to 4,535 units
- X4 sales came to 405 units
- X6 sales came to 609 units

Six major automotive companies have all teamed up to bring high-power charging to Europe. Through this new venture, the BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche have all agreed to work towards the creation of a charging network for the content that would be the highest-powered possible. They plan to create a network of charging stations throughout Europe which would help to encourage more people to purchase battery electric vehicles by making long-range travel more possible.
“This high-power charging network provides motorists with another strong argument to move toward electric mobility,” says Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG. “The BMW Group has initiated numerous public charging infrastructure projects over the last years. The joint project is another major milestone clearly demonstrating that competitors are combining forces to ramp up e-mobility.”
The new network would be the fastest system available today with power levels of up to 350 kilowatt, and it will be based on Combined Charging System standard technology. This means that vehicles that are engineered to withstand the full power of the stations in this charging network will be able to fully recharge in a significantly shorter period of time than what current systems allow.
The group plans to begin building this network sometime in 2017 with the hope to be completed by 2020. This new system will provide drivers of electric vehicles with access to high-powered charging points all throughout Europe the same way that gas stations are available along highways and another long-distance traveling routes.

BMW 7 Series Earns Double Recognition At Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards 2016
Ever since the BMW 7 Series was first released, it has garnered an impressive level of attention, earning it a string of awards in recognition of its premium level of style, performance, technology, and more. Now, the BMW 7 Series can add two more titles to its ever-growing list as it was just named Car of the Year and Chauffeur Car of the Year at the Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards 2016.
Mark Bursa, Editor of Professional Driver magazine, said: “The new BMW 730Ld registered one of the highest average scores for any car we’ve ever seen in the history of the Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards.
