The BMW brand sold a total of 25,531 units throughout August. For all of 2016 so far, their total sales have come to 204,744 units. The BMW brand’s best-seller was the 3 Series, this model sold 5,855 units in August. The second-best seller was the X3 with 4,668 units and an impressive year-over-year increase of 119.5 percent. The vehicle with the highest year-over-year increase, however, was the 7 Series with a 1266.7 percent increase that led to a monthly total of 1,230 units sold.

“The clear trend toward Sports Activity Vehicles took a good-sized leap forward in August, as our U.S. plant again increased production and availability of the always popular BMW X3 and X5 pushing total X model sales to 44% of BMW retail in the U.S. in August,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “With the production increase, I fully expect the key SAV numbers to remain strong in the U.S. through the end of the year.”
