April marked the official beginning of the second quarter for 2016 and the BMW brand has announced that their official yearly sales total has now reached 105,444 units. For just April alone, total sales came to 24,951 units.
“April is always a volatile month for BMW with model changeover taking place in some of our very popular X models, and the improving consumer confidence that typically follows the arrival of Spring still developing,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The numbers for the BMW 2 Series and the BMW X1 show the very strong following our smaller vehicles continue achieving and I expect our high demand X models to show gains as availability improves in months ahead.”
Three vehicles stood out during April for their significant year-over-year increase compared to sales from April of last year. These vehicles included the X1 up 63.3 percent with 1,447 units, the 2 Series up 76.4 percent with 1,780 units, and the i3 up 100 percent with 814 units.
The 5 Series and Z4 also brought in notable increases for April with the 5 Series up 3.7 percent to reach 4,454 units, and the Z4 up 19.5 percent to reach 104 units.
