BMW of North America recently opened a new BMW Performance Center in Southern California. Through a partnership with The Thermal Club, BMW has created a this new training course that is located near La Quinta, CA. This new facility will offer the same level of in-depth driver training and performance driving courses that are currently available at the Spartanburg, CA BMW Performance Center, which has been open since 1999. The first BMW Performance Center opened back in 1977 in Germany so this new location will be the second in the U.S. These incredibly popular performance centers receive nearly 1,000-1,500 visitors per week. Additionally, close to 130,000 students have graduated from the driving courses, with around 5,000 of those graduates coming from the Teen Driving Schools.
The new training course has been designed on 32 acres of the Thermal Club’s ground and includes 6.2 acres of paddock, an 8,500 square foot Performance Facility, a 1.4 mile road course, and a skid pad. Additionally, the Thermal Club will be providing a variety of benefits including a Motorsports Village that provides the Trackside Garage, Tuning Shop, 5.5 miles of racing circuits and other luxuries such as first-class culinary, concierge services tennis courts, a pool and a kids club.
“We have long believed that the right driver training is every bit as important as technology in helping to keep drivers safe,” noted Peter Miles – Vice President of Sales Channel Development and Customer Relations, BMW of North America. “The BMW Performance Center West will make it easier for customers in the Western US to benefit from the same professional driving instruction that nearly 130,000 drivers have had at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina over the last 15 years. We are very pleased to partner with The Thermal Club.”
