As the Official Mobility Partner of the U.S. Olympic Committee, BMW of North America and its designers have been working with Team USA athletes and coaches to create a racing wheelchair designed for the United States Paralympics Track and Field Team. This new racing wheelchair was officially unveiled yesterday, as we reach the 100 day countdown to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
The wheelchair is inspired by BMW’s sleek look and signature design, with features such as carbon fiber material, aerodynamics, and a chassis redesign. Each wheelchair is also personally fitted for each athlete.
“Our partnership with Team USA over the last six years has been a remarkable journey, but the most rewarding part of it all has been the direct collaboration with our athletes,” said Trudy Hardy, Vice President, Marketing, BMW of North America. “Their dedication to their sport and their fans is unprecedented, and as a company dedicated to performance and mobility, this has been a project that felt right at home for us and we’re honored to be part of it.”
