The third sales quarter for the year has come to a close and the BMW brand has sold a total of 230,133 units so far in 2016. For just the month of September, total sales reached 25,389 units. The number-one selling model for September was the 3 Series reaching a total of 7,433 units sold for the month. That was almost twice as high as the next two bestsellers, the X3 with 3,829 units (a 26.2 percent increase) and the X5 with 3,749 units (a 48.5 percent increase). Additionally, the 7 Series had the most significant year-over-year increase with sales up a whopping 796.3 percent to reach 1,201 units sold for September.
“Once again, our Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) are leading the way, accounting for 44% of BMW September sales, the second month in a row for such a percentage,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “At the same time, I am also pleased to see demand for our flagship 7 Series continuing to increase with solid numbers over a year ago.”

- i8 sales came to 159 units
- 2 Series sales came to 977 units
- 4 Series sales came to 2,289 units
- 5 Series sales came to 1,521 units
- 6 Series sales increased 4.2 percent to reach 276 units
- Z4 sales increased 3.1 percent to reach 99 units
- X1 sales increased 190.8 percent to reach 2,463 units
- X4 sales reached 400 units
- X6 sales increased 81.4 percent to reach 604 units
